Munin ("we", "us", "our") operates the Munin mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

When you use Munin, we may collect the following personal data:

Account information: email address, username, and password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never store your password in plain text).
Learning progress: lessons completed, question attempts, chapter progress, and review schedules.
Gamification data: XP (experience points), badges earned, and streak counts.
Device information: device timezone (used for streak calculations and daily usage tracking).
Subscription data: purchase tokens from Google Play Billing (used to verify your subscription status).

2. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database.
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage.
Data is encrypted at rest.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

Provide and maintain the Munin learning experience.
Track your learning progress and personalise your experience.
Calculate streaks, XP, and badges.
Verify subscription status via Google Play Billing.
Send you service-related communications (e.g. email verification).

4. Analytics

Munin uses server-side event logging only (lesson completions, question attempts) to improve the learning experience. We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs or tracking tools in the current version of the app.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Google Play Billing API: to verify subscription purchases made through the Google Play Store.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal data to third parties.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

Right of access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: you can request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure: you can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile > Delete Account). This permanently removes all your personal data from our systems.
Right to data portability: you can request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
Right to object: you can object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed from our systems.

8. Children's Privacy

Munin is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, please contact us at info@munin.tech and we will promptly delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the app. Your continued use of Munin after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
